    Purchase your tree/s

We suggest you buy your 15-gallon tree at the
    Devil Mountain Wholesale Nursery
in Redondo Beach because of the superior quality of their trees. The Redondo Beach location of this statewide wholesale nursery sells retail. Ask for stakes and mulch when placing your order.

Do the neighbors on your block want to plant some trees too? Work together, buy a few trees at a time, and share some resources/costs.

  • STEP 5

    Plant your tree/ s

You can plant your own tree, work with your gardener or here is our
    list of helpers
    we have worked with before.

  • Notes

There are many issues regarding tree location and spacing, including the location of underground utilities and proximity to street lighting & signage, driveways, and adjacent trees.

The parkway width is also important.

When obtaining your permit, be sure to understand the City requirements.

Contact the Green Team for Tree Spacing Guidelines.

My tree has been planted. Now what should I do?

  • Give newly planted trees 15 gallons of water twice a week.

  • After one month,  give the tree 15 gallons of water every week.

  • Water in the early morning or evening

  • Remove weeds and grass from the tree base

  • Maintain mulch doughnut around the tree base

  • Check tree ties every 6 months to ensure the young tree is appropriately supported and growing upright without choking the trunk.

  • Remove stakes and ties when the tree trunk is comparable in diameter to the stakes - typically 1-2 years after tree planting.
