Our Team

GREEN TEAM History

Holmby Westwood residents established the Holmby Westwood Green Team in 2017 to increase neighborhood appreciation of our parkway tree canopy and to build awareness of proper tree care and maintenance. A parkway tree inventory was developed by UCLA students and Green Team members, and a partnership with TreePeople and City Plants was launched to plant missing parkway trees.  To date over 75 new trees have been planted:  Coast Live oaks on Malcolm, Canary Island pines on Dalehurst, Fruitless olives on Manning between Hilgard and Malcolm, and Brisbane box trees on Manning between Malcolm and Wilshire. With nearly two hundred missing parkway trees, we still have a lot of work to do!

Additional projects include the development of an updated street-by-street parkway tree plan for the neighborhood and continued education to residents about trees and the drought, as well as proper tree care and maintenance.

The geographic boundaries of our work:
Sunset Blvd. to the north, Wilshire Blvd. to the south. L.A. Country Club to the east, and Hilgard to the west.

Can Anyone join the Green Team?

Anyone who shares our interest in the neighborhood parkway tree canopy and is willing to learn and work can join the Green Team.  No tree knowledge is required.  Meet your neighbors and have some fun!
